A bit about me

I now earn much of my living from helping clients write proposals, mostly as a consultant for Shipley Ltd.

Most of my working life (of about 35 years) has been in the development of computer systems, for companies like Logica, Deloitte Consulting and Praxis.

I've been managing bid and writing proposals for many, many years, and have built up a body of best-practice (or, at least, practice that works).

In recent years, I have helped clients write proposals for: building libraries; developing NATO aircraft avionics; outsourcing local authority's IT; replacing the entire UK's Fire and Rescue Service call centre infrastructure.

Some you win, some you lose. You can't always tell what difference you made. The proposal can be great, but the price is wrong, or the product is wrong, or the politics are wrong. Sometimes the proposal is so-so and the client wins - because the price was right, etc, etc.

But I do believe that a good proposal stands a better chance of winning business than a poor proposal. And that's the value proposition that I offer my clients. And they keep on buying.

So I hope you can use some of the materials I provide on this blog.

Welcome!

On this site I propose to provide, free, gratis, and for nothing, advice and resources to help you write business proposals.

Please let me know what was useful and what was not.

Thanks.
